Henry Green found a new home in Heritage Baptist Church in September 1998. His excitement for God's word and involvement in the Annapolis area have helped HBC flourish as a beacon for the community.
A native of Jacksonville, Florida, Henry completed his Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in July 1983. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of North Florida. (For a complete biography, read on...)
After being ordained on July 21, 1981 at North Jacksonville Baptist, he served as pastor of the Burneyville Baptist Church in Burneyville, Oklahoma, from August 1981 through August 1983. During that time, he and wife Irene lived in Fort Worth, Texas, where he completed his Masters of Divinity. Upon graduation from seminary, they returned to the Sunshine State.
He served briefly as interim pastor of a small inner-city church and taught middle school. In March 1984, he was called to be pastor of Norwood Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Henry served the Lord there until July 1986, when he went to pastor at First Baptist Church of Cocoa, Florida. At First Baptist, he began a day care ministry, completed an organ project and began a building campaign that led to the completion of the Family Life Building that now serves the church and community.
In October 1993, Henry was called as pastor of Heritage Community Church and served for three years. After that time, he taught and worked part-time as chaplain for Bayfront Medical Center and St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg.
Henry and the Heritage Baptist Church leadership are now working toward completion of an organ project and they're considering the addition of multipurpose/educational space to meet the growing needs of the congregation and the community.
Henry and Irene married May 3, 1980. They have three children -- Matthew, Natalie and Patrick. Henry has a life-long interest in community service, continuing that effort in Annapolis through his work with the Annapolis Rotary Club. He enjoys golfing, reading, hiking and movies. Henry grew up as a Florida Gator fan and is an enthusiastic supporter of Navy Football.
His favorite hymn is ``My Faith Has Found A Resting Place'' and his favorite Bible passage is Micah 6:8, ``He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with God.''
