The very best way to understand what it means to become a Christian and live the Christian life is to go to the Bible. The following passages of Scripture speak with clarity about how one becomes a Christian. Read them carefully as if you were reading a love letter from God to you. As you think about your personal spiritual needs, open your heart to Christ and allow Him to be your guiding light of love and grace.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
"There is no difference, all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:33b-24)
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
(Romans 6:23)
"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, 'Everyone who trusts in Him wil never be put to shame.' For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile - the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on Him, for 'Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved'." (Romans 10:9-13)
"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:8-10)
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purity us from all
unrighteousness." (I John 1:9)
"Dear friends let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been
born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not kow God, because God is love."
(I John 4:7-8)
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know
that you have eternal life." (I John 5:13)
Let me invite you in this moment to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord.
A simple prayer: "Lord, I realize that I am a sinner and am in need of your mercy and grace. Forgive me of my sins and come into my life. Assist me in my path of following Christ and in making Your will mine. Thank You for welcoming me into the family of faith."
Being a Christian is simple to understand, but not easy to do. So, let me encourage you to read the Bible every day, pray and become part of a community of faith that functions out of love and lives in the context of grace. You are welcome to join with us at Heritage Baptist Church. It would be our joy to walk with you and assist in any way we are able in your journey of faith.
