The beautiful flowers in front of the sanctuary today are given in memory of Chester Lanham by his wife Octa.

Today the Men's Bake-Off will take place following the morning worship service.  The desserts will be judged for looks, creativity and taste.  First, second and third prizes will be awarded.  Everyone is invited to step across to the fellowship hall to sample the desserts.

Attention, Youth!  Today at 4:00 we will have the first rehearsal of our Youth Handbell Choir.  All interested middle-school or high-school age students are welcome to participate.  No previous experience is necessary.  Rehearsal will be in the choir room from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

The Red Cross blood drive will take place here tomorrow from 1-7 pm.  If you are willing to give a pint of life-saving blood please see Ida Russell today.

Wednesday's Dinner Everett and Connie Golihew will be serving green salad, spaghetti, Italian bread and surprise dessert.

Day Time Bible Study: If you would be interested in meeting with a group of fellow Christians to spend more time in Bible study, please sign up on the bulletin board near the church office.

Please bring Mother's Day cards in unsealed, stamped envelopes for detainees at the Jennifer Road Detention Center to send to their Mothers.  Last year you gave 71 stamped Mother's Day cards.  Presently there are 520 detainees (men and women) at the Center.  Deadline for bringing cards is Sunday, May 2nd.  Please bring the cards to the church office or give them to Frankie Morehead. 

Copies of the Treasurer's Report for March are available on a table in the narthex.

Mother/Daughter Banquet entitled "Generations of Daughters".  Ladies please join us in "Grandmother's Attic" for a delightful afternoon of memories, conversation, fun and good food on Saturday, May 8, from 12 pm - 2 pm. Please call the church office by April 25th to sign up.  For more information see the bulletin insert.

Senior Adults, come join us for a delicious lunch at Friendly Farm Restaurant in Upperco, Maryland, on Tuesday, May 18th.  We will leave from the church parking lot at 10:30 am.  Dining is family style with choices of individual entrees.  A sign up sheet is posted on the bulletin board across from the kitchen.

Vacation Bible School: This year, children 4 years of age through grade 5 will learn the power of God at the High Seas Expedition.  The dates are July 19-23 from 9 am-12:30 pm.  Registration is now open to the children of HBC. Forms are available in the church office and online.   Please register your children immediately as class sizes are limited and will fill fast once open to the public.  If you would like to be a part of this meaningful ministry, please contact Everett Golihew, Lora Dietrich or Brandi Eckert.
