Today marks the thirty-fifth anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Morehead as members of our church staff. Sally is our secretary and Clair is our facilities manager. We are so blessed to have them on our staff and as loving members of our church family. Following the service a reception will take place in their honor.
We welcome to our pulpit this morning Dr. Walter (Buddy) Shurden. Dr. Shurden founder of the Center for Baptist Studies at Mercer University has been described as a “(distinctively Baptist) church historian, teacher, preacher, author and Baptist apologist extraordinaire.”
The Deacons and their spouses are invited to a cookout tomorrow evening at the home of Tom and Dianne Antonielli. The time is 6 o’clock.
Wednesday’s Menu: Salad, pizza and dessert. Please make a reservation and join us at 5:45 pm for a great time of fellowship. Prayer Meeting, Children’s Missions and Youth Fellowship will follow at 6:30 and Adult Choir at 7:15.
The Knit Chics have resumed knitting on Thursdays in the church lounge. If you would like to join them they meet at 1 pm. Edie Stucker a nationally known knitter is the instructor.
The Trustees will meet this Thursday at 7 pm.
Our youth will have a Back-to-School Lock-In on Friday and Saturday of this week. It will begin at 5 pm on Friday and end promptly at 10 am on Saturday. You are asked to eat a light snack before you come.
Next Sunday, September 20th, will be teacher recognition Sunday.
Copies of the Treasurer’s Report for August are available on a table in the narthex.
Amy Henry, Nursery Coordinator, would like gently used (clean) or new toys for our nursery. The age requirement is birth to 24 months. If you have toys you would like to donate, please bring them to the church office, or call Amy at 410-257-5298.
Help the Helping Fund: Our church has a fund set up for the purpose of helping people to pay their gas and electric bill or rent when they have no money. In most cases Heritage Baptist Church is a last resort before having their utilities turned off or being evicted for not paying rent. As of now, less than $1,669.40 remains available which is not enough to meet the needs for the fall and winter months when utilities are particularly heavy. We ask those who are able and would like to see their money go directly to the needy to please make a contribution to the Helping Fund. Your generosity will be rewarded.
Food Pantry Distribution: Tuesday, September 15th – Betty Gottwald and Thursday, September 17th – Jean Mitchell.
September 20: Sunday School: Nursery: Ruth Anne Shiplette; Worship Extended Care Workers: Nursery: Emily Morehead; Preschool: 2’s and 3’s: Frankie and Heather Morehead; 4’s and 5’s: Mike Irwin and Adam Cogliano. Van Driver: Tom Antonielli. Pianist: Jane Willingham. Closing Prayer: Joyce Harai.

OUR MISSION
We believe Heritage Baptist Church exists to be a beacon reflecting God’s unconditional love in Annapolis and surrounding communities. Using the Bible as our guide, our purpose is to share the Gospel message so that others may become followers of Jesus Christ and to provide an environment that facilitates the strengthening of believers. Each member, like every disciple of Christ, is commissioned to be faithful in the worship of God, Christian ministry, and fellowship with believers. We will continually look to God for power and direction to chart our course.
