Today marks the sixth anniversary of Ralph Manuel as our Minister of Music. He and his wife Donna and their children James and Melissa mean so much to us. We love and appreciate all you do!
The Church Office will be closed tomorrow in observance of President's Day.
A Special Business Meeting will take place today immediately following the morning worship service. The Music Committee is recommending that the church authorize a campaign for the purchase of new hymnals for our sanctuary. The hymnal to be purchased is Celebrating Grace: Hymnal for Baptist Worship, due to be launched on March 7, 2010. Individuals will have the opportunity of purchasing one or more of these hymnals for our church in honor/memory of loved ones. This campaign will begin this month. The cost of a hymnal is $15.00 and our goal is 300 by Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010. Ralph Manuel is a member of the Celebrating Grace Hymnal Committee and two of his hymn tunes are included in this hymnal. Our current hymnals were purchased in 1993 and we will continue to use them in our chapel.
This Wednesday, February 17, our children's choirs will resume their rehearsals. Young Musicians are for children in grades 2 through 5. Music Makers are for those age 4 through first grade. Rehearsal time is 6:30-7:15.
Soup-er Bowl Sunday to Benefit the Light House Shelter, cancelled because of snow, has been rescheduled for next Sunday, February 21st, following the morning worship service. Chef Zachary Pope will prepare a selection of hearty soups and chili (along with salad and dessert) for lunch in the fellowship hall. Admission is free, but donations are requested to benefit the shelter.
Easter is coming! (In just seven weeks.) And in preparation, our Adult Choir has begun working on our Easter Cantata. If you like to sing, you are welcome to be a part of this special Cantata Choir. Rehearsals are every Wednesday from 7:15 to 7:45 pm. Come join us this Wednesday.
In preparation for Easter and at the request of the Visioning Task Force, we are asking our church family to participate in a Day of Prayer on Ash Wednesday, February 17th. When you sign up, you will be committing yourself to pray for 15 minutes at the time you selected. You may pray where you are at that time or in the church chapel.
Because of your continued support, the Backpack Buddies program is continuing to minister to children in need of extra food on the weekends at Georgetown East Elementary School. With your generous support we are now filling 26 backpacks each week and the food is quickly emptying the shelves! Any food or monetary donations are appreciated. Our greatest food needs right now are packages or cans of tuna, crackers in plastic sleeves, snack size pudding cups, snack size applesauce cups and granola or cereal bars. The items may be placed in the tub marked "Backpack Buddies" located in the hallway outside the church office. Monetary donations should be by check, made out to Heritage Baptist Church, marked for Backpack Buddies. Thank you!
Food Pantry Distribution: Tuesday, February 16 - Betty Gottwald and Thursday, February 18 - Jean Mitchell.
February 21, 2010 - Worship Extended Care Workers: Nursery: Sally Morehead; Preschool: 2's and 3's: Emily Morehead and Amanda Hurt; 4's and 5's: Frankie and Heather Morehead. Van Driver: Clyde Morehead. Pianist: Donna Manuel. Closing Prayer: Tom Antonielli

OUR MISSION
We believe Heritage Baptist Church exists to be a beacon reflecting God's unconditional love in Annapolis and surrounding communities. Using the Bible as our guide, our purpose is to share the Gospel message so that others may become followers of Jesus Christ and to provide an environment that facilitates the strengthening of believers. Each member, like every disciple of Christ, is commissioned to be faithful in the worship of God, Christian ministry, and fellowship with believers. We will continually look to God for power and direction to chart our course.
