Heritage Baptist Church is in an exciting time of re-visioning. We are prayerfully asking the most basic questions of “who are we?” and “who is God calling us to be?”. Rev. Green, our pastor of 15 years, has answered a new call that has led him to follow a path away from our church. He is currently on extended leave that will conclude March 31, 2014. During this time of transition we are made more aware of the Lord’s guidance and watchfulness over our church. We welcome the opportunity to hear God’s word shared with us each Sunday by various preachers from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
The flowers this morning are given by Skye’s parents in honor of the birthday shared by Skye and Nick, her fiancé.
The annual meeting of the Mid-Atlantic Cooperative Baptist Fellowship will meet today from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Village Baptist Church in Bowie. Those attending will have the opportunity to meet Trisha Miller Manarin, the new Coordinator, and will enjoy a meal and fellowship with others in our region.
The funeral arrangements for Robert (Herman) Mitchell, who died on Friday, March 21st, are as follows: a memorial service will take place here tomorrow, March 24th, at 11:00 am, with a reception immediately following the service, in the church fellowship hall. Please be in prayer for Jean and family.
Next Saturday, March 29, we will have our All-Church Coming-Together Retreat, which is the concluding event of our six-month Strategic Realignment study. At this time we will come together to discuss the report presented by Rev. Ricky Creech. By the end of the day those in attendance will come up with a plan for the next phase of our church’s journey. This retreat will begin at 8:30 with donuts, juice and coffee, and will end by 3:00 pm. Lunch will also be served and there will be child care.
Bake Sale: On Sunday, April 6th, following the morning worship service there will be a silent auction bake sale. All proceeds collected will go toward the youth mission trip to PASSPORT. Everyone is invited to participate in this event.
Be in prayer for those preaching in our upcoming services: March 30 – Rev. Phillip Bena; April 6 – Rev. Dan Schumacher; April 13 – Cantata.
