What is HBC's Extended Session for children? It's a great program to foster our little ones in their spiritual learning while parents worship. Read on for details and how you can help...
"Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." -- Matthew 19:14 NIV
Our youngest ones graduate from the loving care of nursery at age 2 and begin an exciting path of Bible learning in HBC's Jesus Kids Preschool Sunday School. Children aged 2-5 meet each Sunday morning from 9:15 to 10:15 to learn Bible stories through age appropriate activities. At 10:15, the bell rings signaling the end of Sunday School and the beginning of worship in the church sanctuary.
This is when HBC's Extended Sesson begins. From 10:15 to church dismissal (usually around 11:30) the 2-5 year olds remain in their classrooms for snack and continued Bible games and activities, all geared to their age and interests. This allows parents to worship without distraction and young ones to learn in an environment where movement and sound are encouraged!
This special program is a favorite at Heritage. We have a dedicated staff of core volunteers who rotate in and out of service, but the need for more help is great. Lesson plans are provided and supplies are available. Amy Henry, Extended Care coordinator, has asked that anyone interested in working with this ministry contact her at church or call the office at 410-263-6680. |
