Heritage Baptist Church is in an exciting time of re-visioning. We are prayerfully asking the most basic questions of “who are we?” and “who is God calling us to be?”. Rev. Green, our pastor of 15 years, has answered a new call that has led him to follow a path away from our church. He is currently on extended leave that will conclude March 31, 2014. During this time of transition we are made more aware of the Lord’s guidance and watchfulness over our church. We welcome the opportunity to hear God’s word shared with us each Sunday by various preachers from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
The Deacons will meet tomorrow evening at 7 o’clock.
Our Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, sponsored by the Hospitality Committee, will take place this Tuesday, March 4th, from 5:30-7 o’clock, in the church’s fellowship hall. Admission is free but donations are asked to help cover the cost of the food and after expenses the remainder going to the Church’s Helping Fund. Please plan to attend with your family and friends.
The Leadership Council will meet this Tuesday at 6 pm.
The Trustees will meet this Thursday at 7:00 pm.
A Family Game Night will take place this Friday, March 7, beginning at 7:00 pm, in Assembly Room A (youth room). Games will be available or you may bring your own along with ping pong. Refreshments will be provided. You will want to come for an evening of good fun and fellowship.
Remember: Daylight Saving Time begins next Sunday, March 9th. Be sure to spring forward before you go to bed on Saturday night.
The church’s March business meeting will take place on Wednesday the 12th, at 6:30 pm. If you are a committee chairperson, please let the office know no later than Friday, March 7th, your intent to present input from your committee. If you will be presenting a motion a written copy must be given to Sally.
Save the date! On Saturday, March 29, we will have an All-Church Coming-Together Retreat, which is the concluding event of our six-month Strategic Realignment study. At this time we will come together to discuss the report presented by Rev. Ricky Creech. By the end of the day those in attendance will come up with a plan for the next phase of our church’s journey. This retreat will begin at 9:00 am and will end by 3:00 pm. Meals and child care will be provided. Stay tuned for further details.
