Our Backpack Buddies program began April 17^th with children from Georgetown East Elementary School receiving backpacks filled with nutritious food and snacks on Friday afternoons to help supplement their diet through the weekends.  Through your generous food and monetary donations, this program has been a tremendous success.  The Heritage children have filled bags during their Wednesday evening mission's time and these are delivered to the school on Thursdays. 

Our last delivery date is June 4.  The children receiving backpacks view themselves as a "special club" and comments from the parents have been very appreciative.  Our plan is to increase the number of backpacks as school begins in the fall.  Because we are concerned about expiration dates and having food stored during the summer, we will begin asking for your donations in August as we prepare for the fall opening of school.  Thank you for your support and the contributions you are making toward improving the life of these children.

On June 6 & 7, Heritage Baptist will host a Fine Arts Exhibit.  A portion of money raised from the sale of displayed works will be donated to the Backpack Buddies program.  For more information, see the Fine Arts Weekend article.
