SOUPer Bowl scoops up $1300 for Shelter
(Annapolis, MD- February 21, 2010) - Maryland Speaker of the House Mike Busch and Annapolis Alderman Fred Paone ladled soup for over 150 Annapolis area residents Sunday afternoon (February 21) at the 4th Annual SOUPer Bowl Lunch to benefit the Annapolis Light House Shelter.
Hosted by Heritage Baptist Church (1740 Forest Drive, Annapolis), this 2-hour donation only charity event raised $1300, all of which goes directly to the shelter. Ingredients for the meal were donated by the church while Chef Zachary Pope of Roundz Catering donated his time and expertise in preparing Hearty Chicken Noodle, Texas Chili and Baked Potato soup.
For over 20 years, the Light House Shelter has provided shelter to the homeless in Anne Arundel County. It is a program of the Annapolis Area Ministries, of which Heritage Baptist is a member, and is supported by the fundraising efforts of Friends of the Light House Shelter.
