Today, we celebrate our Centiquinquennial! Yes, we celebrate our church's 105th anniversary. Our guests today are Rev. Brent Coleman, former interim pastor of Heritage; Rev. Gioele Settembrini, founding pastor of Shady Side Baptist and renowned opera singer; and Dr. Fred T. Moffatt Jr., who served as pastor of Heritage from 1974-1989. Following today's service everyone is invited to stay for a fellowship dinner. After dinner there will be a Testimonial Service and Hymn Sing.
Softball Memo: We play in June and July at the Annapolis Middle School on Forest Drive. We have only one practice at Eastport Elementary School tomorrow evening from 6-7 o'clock. Please bring your glove and remember this is a family friendly softball league.
This Friday everyone is invited to Family Game Night. It will take place in the youth room from 7-9 o'clock. Table games will be provided or you may bring your own. Ping Pong and pool are also available. Light refreshments will be served.
There will be a College and Career Pool Party this Saturday, May 24th, at 1:30 pm, at the Welkers' house. Please bring your swimsuit, a towel, and your Bible. Contact Patricia Welker or Melissa Manuel if you are planning on coming or if you need a ride.
Next Sunday, May 25th, our church will be hosting a concert by Variations, a select choral group from Bluefield College in Virginia. The concert will begin at 6:15 p.m.; there will be an ice cream fellowship immediately following the presentation. Admission is free, so come and bring your friends.
Habitat for Humanity: We are two months away from the dedication of the 100th Arundel Habitat house that Heritage is helping to build. Mark your calendar for July 19th and plan to attend this very special event. Workers are needed on the following dates: June 7th - College and Career Day (five workers needed); June 21st - Heritage Baptist Men's Day (eight men are needed). We will be providing lunch for our men on this day as well. Sign up sheets are posted on the Habitat bulletin board outside the church lounge. If you have any questions, please see Lynn Keckler.
In our 2008 church budget, $2500 was budgeted for The Helping Fund. This fund is used to assist individuals with utility bill turnoffs or eviction notices. Since January we have averaged giving about $400 per month from this fund. If this trend continues, this budgeted line item will be depleted long before the end of the year. Because of this, the Missions Committee voted to donate the entire Spring Missions Offering to supplement the Helping Fund. This offering was taken last Sunday and will be taken again today. Our goal is $3,000.00 which will allow our church to continue doing what we can to support those in desperate need in our community. This is truly HOME MISSIONS! You will find mission envelopes in the pew racks and in your 2008 offering envelopes or you can mark a regular envelope "Mission Offering."
A mission trip to Barbour County, West Virginia, is planned for August 3-7, 2008. This trip is a family oriented, intergenerational group from eight churches working on construction, gardening and yard work, children's camp, and meal preparation. If you are interested, please see Mary Ann Fulford, or call the church office. Registration and a $15 deposit need to be completed by May 15th.
Food Pantry Distribution: Tuesday, May 20th - Ida Russell and Thursday, May 22nd - Mel Howard Jr.
May 25: Extended Session Workers: Greeter: Sally Morehead; Nursery: Catherine Irwin and Melissa Manuel; Preschool: 2's and 3's: Amy Henry and Sally Morehead; 4's and 5's: Candace Prosser and Jordan Slocum. Van Driver: Pete Mager. Pianist: Donna Manuel; Closing Prayer: Clyde Morehead.

OUR MISSION
We believe Heritage Baptist Church exists to be a beacon reflecting God's unconditional love in Annapolis and surrounding communities. Using the Bible as our guide, our purpose is to share the Gospel message so that others may become followers of Jesus Christ and to provide an environment that facilitates the strengthening of believers. Each member, like every disciple of Christ, is commissioned to be faithful in the worship of God, Christian ministry, and fellowship with believers. We will continually look to God for power and direction to chart our course.
