A look at the 100th Arundel Habitat House and preview of Fall missions work...
In May some ladies from our church did a Ladies' Day build at the 100th Arundel Habitat house which is on Clay Street. In June we provided lunch for workers at this same house and on August 9 the home was dedicated and keys presented to the new home owner. It was an exciting day to witness the joy of this new owner as well as the satisfaction of so many who helped in the construction which began in February, 2008. Heritage was a part of the Annapolis Area Coalition in this build which included 7 other churches as well as The Brick Companies, City of Annapolis, and Friends Foundation. Also, in-kind support was provided by the following businesses: Absolute Fire Protection, Arundel Crane Services, Bausum and Duckett, Bay Engineering, Chilltrol, Inc., Devere Insulation, Ferguson Enterprises, Inc., Gotugo, Heidler Plumbing, Heartland Building Products, JJ Haines, Reico, Southern Pacific Supply Co., Square D, Thompson Creek Window Co., Somerville Co., Valspar Foundation, and Whirlpool. Watch for more opportunities to assist this worthwhile local organization as they begin fourteen additional constructions in the Clay Street area in a few months.
September brings us to our regular mission activities on Wednesday evenings with the children and adults. The children will participate with the "block" schedule of music and missions beginning at 6:30 with the mission focus the first block. Our adults will resume discussion of missions around the world each first Wednesday of the month.
We are excited about up coming opportunities with guest speakers. Operation Christmas Child sponsored by our Senior Adults, and the Global Missions focus and offering in November and December. We also are working on a date to again volunteer a day at Food and Friends in D.C. or another worthwhile service organization. Watch for announcements as dates become firm and "stay tuned" as opportunities develop.
